Fall GA State Championship Scout Notes

Photo: Perfect Game
Mason Gazaway (2025, Marietta, Ga.) is a 5-foot-11, 150-pound primary outfielder and left-handed pitcher from Marietta High School in his hometown. A sophomore this fall, Gazaway did a little of everything for 643 DP Cougars 16u this weekend, hitting .667 over three games with two-thirds of his hits going for extra bases, collecting 12 total bases on the weekend. At the plate, Gazaway hits with balance and plenty of rhythm to his actions in the box. He does a nice job staying short through the hitting zone leading to loud, barreled contact to all fields. A good athlete, Gazaway hustles out of the box and on the bases with underway speed. Athleticism holds true in the outfield, as he ranges well, showcases nice anticipation on results off the bat, and has feel for the leather, giving him the ability to make all plays. Lastly, Gazaway has nice arm strength that helps him keep the running game at bay, as his arm profiles to a corner long term. Mason used his arm on the mound as well, pitching two innings out of the bullpen, striking out four and elevating his fastball into the low-70s.
