FORT MYERS, Fla. – The next A-Rod?
Alexander Rodriguez from South Florida Elite Squad Black knocked out a total of four home runs to win the 17u BCS Finals Rawlings Home Run Challenge Tuesday night at Hammond Stadium.
Rodriguez, a 6-5, 200-pound left-handed hitter and pitcher from Boynton Beach, Fla., smacked a pair of home runs in the first round of the Challenge, the same number swatted by En Fuego Baseball’s Chase Patterson, who calls Eight Mile, Ala., home.
Rodriguez captured the championship by hitting two more bombs in the final round to Patterson’s one.
Seven other hitters smacked one home run in the Challenge’s first round:
Kevin Bradley (NJ Super 17 American), Dalton Mayberry (Delaware Warriors), Harrison Bader (New York Grays), Richard Casarez (Laredo Flames), Chris Sims (East Cobb Indians), Christian Morris (Florida Hardballers) and Alan Archer (Orlando Scorpions 17u Black).
The 17u BCS Finals Fastest Man competition is scheduled for Wednesday night at City of Palms Park. The 18u BCS Finals Rawlings Home Run Challenge and Fastest Man competitions will also be at City of Palms Wednesday night.
