And this is where it all ends. MBA 2026 Scout Team faced off against Canes National 15u in the 15u WWBA Championship, with the winner crowned champion. This game was a fierce back and forth contest. Let's talk about it.

The first inning for MBA did not appear favorable after their incredible comeback triumph in the semifinal game hours earlier. A strikeout was recorded by Canes starter Cameron Hanes helped him navigate through the top of the lineup for a scoreless first inning.

Canes National got on Ethan Trivison early as the bases loaded in a flash following a hit-by-pitch to Alex Harrington, a walk by Grady Emerson, and another changeup that hit Andrew Costello. The bases were loaded when Jaxon Matthews hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score the game's opening run. In addition, Emerson had moved to third. After Brady Murrietta crushed a fastball to center for an RBI single, the Canes added a second run.

However, MBA immediately worked to cut the deficit in the second. A wild pitch would enable Will Anderson to advance after he had reached on an error. Lucas Cannady hit a ball to deep left that just stayed in the park with one out, cutting the deficit in half with an RBI double.

In the bottom of the inning, Canes National aimed to immediately score this run back when Hunter Arrington singled the other way with two strikes. Then, to put himself in scoring position, he would display lightning speed and steal second. After Carson Boleman lined a shot to center to score Arrington, the Canes extended their lead to 3-1.

Picking things up in the top of the third, MBA looked to respond. After Christopher Reali was hit by a pitch to start the inning, Chandler Dantzler singled, and a walk loaded the bases and forced a pitching change, ending Hanes' day. Final stats for Hanes: 2 innings, 2 hits, 2 runs (both unearned), and 2 strikeouts.

Following the introduction of Ty Tillery as a relief pitcher, Brady Harris hit a scorching liner to right that was caught but turned into a sac fly to bring them within one. Tillery forced Aiden Arnett into a massive double play with runners on the corners and one out to stop the momentum.

After the Canes bats stopped hitting in the bottom of the frame, MBA tried to gain momentum. When Will Anderson reached base once more in the top of the fourth inning due to an error, MBA tried to take advantage but Ty Tillery made Gage Pertrutz hit into another crucial double play for the Canes.

The Canes kept responding and their bats did it once again in the bottom of the fourth. Opening up the frame with a loud double, Colton Haire would later score on Hunter Harrington's second hit of the day, a double down the left field line to make it 4-2.

Ethan Trivison pitched 3.2 innings, giving up five hits and four runs, all of which were earned.

Moving forward to the top of the sixth, MBA had to apply some pressure. Wilson Anderson, one of the best athletes in his class, had two runners on after an Aiden Arnett single but Tillery halted the momentum once again with a crucial double play. The Canes were three outs away from a national championship when he forced another fly out.

To complete a 4-2 victory for the Canes, Tillery came back out for the top of the seventh inning and retired the MBA bats in order.

Ty Tillery had more than enough insurance runs. He would come on in relief, pitch five innings, allowed just one hit and one run, struck out one, and allowed just one hit. His defense supported him, making numerous plays behind him.

The WWBA National Championship requires an all-out team effort to win. Dan Gitzen said, "Before this competition, we challenged our team, particularly our pitchers, and put them to the test. Looking back, we only allowed 5 runs in 11 games. The entire team contributed to that. A group of young kids are taking action and committing to contribute. They really went out there and challenged themselves, and we have a tremendous offense and defense around them."

Setting the standard by not allowing a run during pool play to earn the top overall seed. The Canes have spent the entire summer competing at the highest levels possible in the PG National Championships.
