Alonzo Jones is a 2015 SS/2B with a 5-10 192 lb. frame from Columbus, GA who attends Columbus HS. Strong square SEC running back type build. Incredible running speed, 6.17 in the sixty, might be the fastest runner in PG history considering the conditions, impact speed on the bases. Best infield position is second base, has good arm strength, short quick arm action, obvious range and athleticism. Tools might profile better in centerfield ala Billy Hamilton. Switch hitter, simple rotational swing from both sides of the plate, bit better bat speed and lower half use from the left side, strength translates into bat speed and hard contact, has some gap power which will lead to plenty of triples. Much more than just a speed player. Excellent student, verbal commitment to Vanderbilt. Selected for the Perfect Game All-American Classic.
