Sam Wheatley is a 2015 C/OF with a 5-11 200 lb. frame from Kingwood, TX who attends Kingwood HS. Strong build with good physical maturity. Polished receiver on defense, has quick hands and gets rid of the ball very quickly, compact arm action with good arm strength, 1.87 in drills, 2.02 in games, receives the ball well and works with pitchers. Right handed hitter, quiet balanced approach, short line drive swing with a nice hand path to the ball, is loose and strong at contact, can back spin the ball, hits to all fields with solid line drive contact, gap power, showed patience and a knowledge of the strike zone as well. 7.24 runner and athletic enough to play other positions than catcher. Outstanding student.
