Blake Bivens is a 2014 RHP/1B with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from Sutherlin, VA who attends George Washington. Large frame with a strong, athletic build. Ideal body on the mound. Right handed pitcher who gathers well on the mound and works from a balanced, steady tempo'd delivery. Attacks hitters from a high three quarters arm slot, showing a nice feel for a three pitch mix. Quick arm with short action in the back. Had events top fastball at 91 mph and sat 86-90 throughout. Good command of pitch, spotting to both sides and has good arm side run, with harder run on 2 seam fastball. Curveball features sharp 11/5 break with late life and depth. Uses a straight change up that he slows arm speed on. Throws strikes with all four pitches and misses bats. Named to Top Prospect List. Good student, verbal commitment to Liberty.
