2015 Northeast Top Prospect Showcase
Marcus Fry is a 2016 OF/3B with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Mansfield Center, CT who attends E. O. Smith HS. Medium, athletic frame with a broad shouldered build and present strength throughout. Ran a 7.03 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, moves well through the all and generates extension out front, crow hop to gain momentum, full arm action with a longer and easy release, shows nice strength out of hand. Fields the ball out front in the infield, shorter arm action with strength and carry across, moves well through the ball and on feet. Also pitched, smooth delivery with steady tempo and slight pause at balance point while incorporating lower half. Throws from an extended low three-quarter arm slot, nice running life on fastball up to 84 mph and comes out easy. Curveball showed late depth with 11-5 shape at 73 mph. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and a medium hand set. Strides into contact with lower half after leg lift trigger, uses strength to generate solid bat speed and shows leverage off the barrel to pull side. Nice extension to swing, loud contact coming off and shows the ability to drive to the opposite field. Verbal commitment to Massachusetts. Named to Northeast Top Prospect Showcase. Good student.
