Sam Bordner is a 2015 RHP/1B with a 6-6 220 lb. frame from Baltimore, OH who attends Bloom-Carroll HS. Big strong low waisted build. Hand drop delivery, inverted arm circle in back, hand late getting up at times, quick arm action, tight 3/4's release slot, some backside collapse causes him to lose height and angle on his pitches. Upper 80's fastball, topped out at 90 mph, flat running action at times. Throws both a curveball and a slider, curveball has good spin and bite, occasional 11/5 depth, shorter slider with sweeping break, will get caught between the two pitches at times. Right handed hitter, open stance, has strength and occasional lift in his swing, tends to drift to contact and stay inside but shows nice hitting tools and leverage when back and looking to drive the ball, controls his long levers well and gets extended out front. Good student, verbal commitment to Louisville.
