Tate Pennington is a 2017 SS/RHP with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Matthews, NC who attends Butler. Lean athletic build with room to fill out. Hits from square stance, uses a leg lift trigger to start his line drive swing plane. Hits to all fields showing carry to the pull side. Power will develop as he fills out and add strengths. Defensively, threw 85 across diamond, has short an easy actions, has loose arm action with accuracy. Has some effort in his release but has clean actions. Solid runner running a 6.72 sixty. Also pitches, medium arm action to high 3/4 arm slot. Gets on top of fastball and produces a good angle to the plate. Has feel for two off speed pitches with a 12/6 curveball with good depth and a straight change. Good Student.
