Russ Branch is a 2016 RHP/MIF with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from Polkville, NC who attends Burns HS. Medium, compact build with some present strength. Primary righthanded pitcher, short, compact arm-action to a sidearm slot. Stays balanced throughout delivery, fastball up to 74 mph, offering shows run and sink. Also mixes in slider with sweeping action and developing feel for a changeup with some fade. Showed ability to throw strikes consistently and generate weak contact. Showed soft hands and decent agility in the middle infield, accurate throws to bases. Right handed hitter, straight stance, simple hand load, works uphill and shows natural lift. Ball can carry to pullside, shows developing feel for barrel. Excellent student.
