2007 National Showcase
Michael Palazzone is a 2008 RHP with a 6'3'', 190 lb. frame from Marietta, GA who attends Lassiter HS. He has a lean projectable build that should continue to get stronger as he matures. Palazzone has a fluid delivery with a backward shoulder tilt and a true over the top release point. He gets outstanding downward plane and leverage to the plate and the ball comes out his hand easily. Palazzone's curveball is simply the best in the 2008 class and the best in many other classes past and future. It is big and sharp and nasty and has straight down 12/6 break that makes it very difficult to make contact with. Usually a big downer curveball is the hardest pitch to control but that's never been a problem with Palazzone. Palazzone usually throws in the low 90's during regular games and topped out at 94 mph durinig the short showcase outing. His 81 mph change up is also a potential plus pitch and doesn't get the recognition that his curveball does but is a legit weapon as well. Palazzone's unusual over the top pitching mechanics sometimes give scouts a pause but his stuff is superior and is his ability to pitch and command his plus stuff very polished. He is a very good student with a verbal commitment to Georgia. Selected to 2007 Aflac All-American team.
