Jacob Barnard is a 2017 C/OF with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Gilbert, AZ who attends Gilbert HS. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength throughout frame, some room to still fill out. Ran a 7.48 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, pops out of the crouch and gains some ground with lower half, upright at release, high takeaway into a tight and compact arm action, gets on top of throws well and shows both accuracy and arm strength on throws to second base. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high back elbow in the box. Lets the ball travel and shows a short bat path to the ball, uses strength well to create solid bat speed through the zone. Shows an overall looseness to swing, looks to lift at contact, hits off backside at times, has present tools that will continue to develop. Excellent student.
