Spence Johns is a 2017 3B/RHP, SS, 1B, 2B with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Dacula, GA who attends Hebron Christian Academy. Large frame with long, lean present build and plenty of projection remaining. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.14 seconds. Hits from narrow-based stance with quiet pre-pitch set up, simple mechanics with see-ball/hit-ball approach, line drive swing plane with good repeatability in swing mechanics. Throws hands at the ball with quality bat speed, consistently hit rising line drives to all fields. Bends well at the waist in the infield, good hands at the ball with clean and easy actions when fielding. Solid footwork to and through the ball, gets off quick release with excellent arm strength across the infield up to 87 MPH. Pitched as well, employs shorter arm action through the back to traditional three quarters arm slot, gets downhill well with authority. Fastball worked 82-84 MPH and touched 85, good life on pitch, very hard to square up when down in the zone. Mixed in a curveball with solid shape and spin, had two quick, easy innings. Named to 2016 Sunshine Southeast Showcase Top Prospect List. Excellent student.
