Will Jones is a 2016 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-3 205 lb. frame from Van Alstyne, TX who attends Van Alstyne HS. Extra-large, athletic build with long limbs and a strong build with some room to fill out. Primary left-handed pitcher, throws from a three-quarter arm slot with a long arm action. Deliberate tempo to delivery, lands online with lower half, cross body release. Creates angle and natural cut on fastball that topped at 79 mph with extension out front and got swings and misses with it. Curveball showed two-plane sweeping depth at 67 mph and also mixed in a short, sharp breaking 10-4 slider. Filled up the zone with three pitches. Easy and loose arm action from the outfield, short steps to the ball, comes out clean. Left-handed hitter who shows interesting upside with the bat. Sound mechanics with a strong feel for the barrel, short and compact swing path with leverage at contact. Looks to pull and uses strength well. Two-way potential. Outstanding student.
