Jared Vega is a 2017 RHP/OF with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Stratford, NJ who attends Sterling High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a strong built at present with strength proportioned throughout. Ran a 7.30 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, shows a high leg lift up past belt with slight hip turn at top of delivery and gets tall on backside, sound balance throughout with on line direction and momentum down the mound. Some depth to arm action in back but arm action is quick and consistently gets on top of the ball from a high three-quarters arm slot. Generates plane to fastball, topped out at 84 mph, mostly true in life with occasional cut, hard run at times when down in the zone. Ball comes out clean from hand and maintained velocity, attacks hitters and can miss bats with fastball. Short breaking ball with 11-5 shape, tight rotation and late bite, also showed a cutter that can get in on hands. Similar strong arm from the outfield, ball comes out clean and easy, short steps to the ball, projects with additional lower half, fields ball closer to body. Righthanded hitter, begins with an upright stance and a high back elbow in the box. Shows an easy swing with leverage at point of contact, occasionally gets to front side early but shows balance for most part, creates bat speed with low effort and shows jump off the barrel when squared. Very good student. Named to Northeast Top-Top Prospect List.
