Mason Patel is a 2020 RHP/IF with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Knoxville, TN who attends Webb School Of Knoxville. Medium build with lanky and projectable frame with room to fill out throughout the frame. Quick and online delivery with tempo, extended 3/4 arm slot, short and loose arm action, arm works, hides the ball well. Fastball topped at 84 mph, shows occasional life to armside, creates plane with good extension. Mixed an 11/5 curveball with tight spin and late bite at 72 mph, flashed a changeup at 75 mph that shows potential with maintained arm speed and sinking action. Threw lots of strikes with all pitches and showed good feel of 3-pitch mix. 7.86 runner. Developing hands in the infield with solid arm strength, arm is accurate to first base. Took reps in the outfield and showed same type of arm strength, developing footwork. Right handed hitter, spread out stance, long and loose swing with solid bat speed, sprayed line drives mostly to right-center field. Named to Southeast Underclass Top Prospect Team. Good Student.
