Jalon Long is a 2018 RHP/OF with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Millbrook, AL who attends Park Crossing HS. Compact frame with lean, well-proportioned and athletic build. Easy, well-coordinated delivery, works to a higher 3/4's arm slot. Big-time arm spreed and strength, ball jumps out of his hand. Fastball up to 89 mph, shows good armside running life and ability to locate the pitch down in the zone. Also shows comfort in confidence in curveball. Pitch has 12/6 shape and big, late bite and depth, is a potential wipeout offering. Also flashed some feel for low-80s changeup, still developing feel for it but maintains armspeed and has good potential. Worked out in the outfield as well, showed big armstrength in defensive drills, up to 87 mph. Switch hitter, likes to stay inside the ball and use the entire field from both sides of the plate. Shows solid bat speed and strength, good hitting tools in place, needs more reps and consistent timing. Good student. Very impressive off of the mound, named to the National Underclass Main Event Top Prospect List.
