Junior Renwick is a 2018 SS/3B, RHP with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Havelock, NC who attends Havelock High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.50 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, fielded the ball centered, developing transfer, and moved well to backhand. Showed good arm strength up to 84 mph. At the plate, started with a wide base, open stance, high hand set, high back elbow, and a leg lift timing mechanism. Hip coil with quickness to barrel, and inconsistent lower half in swing. Line drive swing plane with developing timing and an approach that worked the opposite field. Would improve with additional lower half and rhythm in swing. Also pitched, started in the middle of the rubber, leg raise past belt, closed landing, crossfire element, compact arm action and threw from a very high three quarter arm slot. Lands on a stiff front leg with a heel turn finish and developing ability to repeat release point. Fastball worked 76-79/80 mph with occasional riding life up and out of the zone. Around the zone with fastball, needs improved command of pitch. Showed slider at 70 mph with replicated arm speed and short depth. Got to both sides of the plate and worked best low in the zone. Outstanding student.
