Ian McMahon is a 2018 LHP with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from Benton, IL who attends Benton Consolidated HS. Has a medium frame, lean build, plenty of room to fill out as he continues to mature and put on additional muscle. On the mound, throws from a three-quarter arm slot and will occasionally drop to a lower slot. Has a short arm circle through the back, creates good angle to the plate. Slider shows tilting shape with solid depth. Changeup has tumble to it. Displays ability to all three pitches in any count and any situation. At the plate, left-handed hitter with an opposite field approach and inside hand path. Swings on a line drive swing plane with solid strength off the barrel. Flashed hard pull side contact. Excellent student.
