John Wyatt Cheney is a 2019 RHP/OF with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Bertram, TX who attends Liberty Hill HS. Medium frame with some physical projection and room to fill left on the frame. Primary righthanded pitcher with a very full arm action. Over the top arm slot and creates plane with the fastball. Throws with some intent and filled up the strike zone. Attacked with fastball that was mostly true in life. Arm speed was impressive and flashed heavy life on the fastball when low in the zone. Three pitches including a curveball that flashed sharpness and bite. Worked in the outfield with a fuller arm action and created some whip. Loose arm and ball comes out clean. Deliberate overall actions with a clean glove. Righthanded hitter, upper half dominant swing with an inside hand path. Consistent contact up the middle and to the pull side. Showed barrel feel with the ability to generate consistent line drive contact. Verbal commitment to Oklahoma State. Excellent student.
