Dalton Brieger is a 2018 RHP/2B, 3B, SS, MIF with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from San Antonio, TX who attends Reagan High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Primary righthanded hitter, begins delivery with a leg lift just above belt while getting tall on back side, short stride down the mound with a full arm stroke through the back. Works to a three-quarters release point and able to generate short running life to fastball when on top of ball and working down. Fastball topped out at 85 mph, shows ability to get in on hands of righthanded hitters with quickness to arm, projects with additional lower half incorporated into drive down the mound. Landed curveball to glove side frequently, topped out at 74 mph, occasionally under the pitch but showed short depth with 11-5 shape when on top. Displayed light footwork in the infield moving to and through the ball, fields the ball out front with balance, shows fluidity, similar arm action on throws across the diamond. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow in the box; utilizes a high leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Full swing path with looseness to hands, does a nice job of creating contact out front. Upper body dominant swing with comfort hitting to his pull side, occasionally gets around the ball, shows lift out front at point of contact. Good student.
