2018 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase
Jakob Kouneski is a 2019 C/1B/3B with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Minneapolis, MN who attends Southwest HS. Large frame with broad shoulders and present strength. Primary catcher with a balanced, athletic set while receiving the baseball. Gains ground well while working out of crouched with quick, athletic footwork. Clean, fluid exchanges and repeated arm action from a compact three-quarters slot. Throws generated accurate, on line carry to the bag topping at 76 miles per hour. Best workout pop time of 1.95. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and high back elbow set. Stays balanced throughout swing while employing rotational lower half actions to contact. Present bat speed and strength at the plate with a naturally lifted barrel plane through extension. Showed good feel for the barrel and consistently produced hard, loud contact to each outfield gap. Good student. Named to the 2018 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase, Top Prospect List.
