Evan Mahns is a 2019 LHP/ with a 6-1 210 lb. frame from Eatontown, NJ who attends Christian Brothers Academy. Has a large frame, large build, and strength throughout especially lower half. On the mound, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with compact arm action, cross the body with arm causing natural cutting action to an already heavy fastball. Flashed a slider at 66 mph with nice break, and a changeup working down in the zone at 69 mph. Was able to command well with all three pitches. From the outfield, fields the ball out front with loose actions, arm is also loose and is developing actions. From first base, also fields the ball out front and gets on top of throws across. At the plate, starts with a slightly open stance, high hand set, and high back elbow. Stays short to the baseball and hits the ball out front. Simple swing and repeats mechanics while staying on a linear plane. Great student.
