Drew Moerschbacher is a 2022 SS/RHP/IF with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Port Matilda, PA who attends State College Area. Recorded a 6.91 second sixty-yard dash time. Medium, athletic looking frame with some lean muscle throughout and room to add strength. Primary shortstop with smooth, controlled footwork into the fielding process, a clean funnel out in front and efficient exchanges into release. Works downhill through the baseball well and exhibits the ability to change arm angles when necessary. Recorded online, accurate throws with carry up to 86 mph across the diamond during drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked from a full windup delivery with good rhythm and tempo to it, good lower half engagement down the slope and a loose, lower three-quarters arm slot. High-energy delivery with some effort through release, fastball worked in the 80-84 mph range for most of his outing and topped out at 85 mph in this look. Attack mentality with confident in his fastball, proficient strike thrower with some arm-side run to the fastball. Flashed a replicated changeup and tight 11-5 shaped curveball that had hard vertical tilt to it. Worked both halves of the plate effectively and generated tons of weak contact throughout, held velocity from the stretch. Right-handed hitter that hits from a even based stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and toe-tap trigger. Incorporates rotational lower half mechanics and slight barrel tip into launch. Whole field approach with lightning quick hands, good feel for the barrel and gap-to-gap power potential. Stayed consistent throughout and the swing translates well into game action. Solid overall prospect with quick twitch athleticism, two-way abilities and offensive prowess. Good Student. Verbally committed to Marietta College. Named to the 2022 Western Pennsylvania Top Prospect List.
