Darius Gilliam is a 2018 SS/RHP, OF with a 6-2 165 lb. frame from Bowie, MD who attends Dematha Catholic. Large frame with very long, lean present build; highly projectable physically. Ran 30 yard dash in 3.71 seconds. Sets up to hit from slightly open stance with leg lift trigger, fluidity present throughout swing, hands are very quick into swing and translate into very good bat speed overall, stays on line drive plane for the most part and peppers whole field with liners; did show the ability to elevate the ball and drive it deep to the pull field. Worked out in a pair of spots, more natural look in OF drills. Very good athleticism coming in on ball, fields cleanly and works through with clean footwork, showed quality arm strength with very projectable arm action, clocked up to 83 MPH. Has range in IF to both sides, light on feet, showed quick release across the diamond, clocked up to 79 MPH. Pitched as well, longer arm stroke with quality arm speed to high three quarters arm slot, fastball worked 80-82 MPH with good plane to the plate. Curveball was weapon pitch, thrown often and in all counts, very good 12/6 shape with depth and snap. Named to 2017 Northeast Indoor Showcase-NY Top Prospect List, very good student.
