Cole Sass is a 2018 2B/3B, SS with a 5-10 185 lb. frame from Commack, NY who attends Commack. Medium frame with a strong, athletic build. Ran a 7.57 sixty-yard dash. Primary second baseman with fundamentally sound footwork while surrounding and works through the baseball. Funnels the baseball from a slightly deeper position and showed quick, fluid exchanges. Primarily released from a compact three-quarters arm slot, but also showed ability to drop to a lower arm slot while throwing on the run, topped at 83 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and simple front side trigger. Compact hand path to contact with a line drive plane to finish. Created some leverage when connecting out front showing present strength. Created hard contact while utilizing a mid field approach, but also showed the bat speed to turn the barrel and work to pull side with good jump. Also pitched utilizing a smooth paced side step delivery. Stays tall and balanced on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Long, loose arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball flashed some downhill tilt through the zone with occasional run to arm side in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 83 miles per hour. Maintained arm speed with slider offering producing solid spin with late tilt to glove side in the low 70's. Worked quickly and challenged hitters to the bottom of the zone. Consistently changed speeds and induced weak ground ball contact. Very good student.
