2018 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase
Joshua DeLeon is a 2020 OF/RHP/1B with a 5-10 145 lb. frame from Chicago, IL who attends De La Salle Institute. Slender build with room to add strength. Secondary right handed pitcher. Utilizes a slow side step delivery with some bottom half coil on a high leg kick delivery. Releases from a high three-quarter arm slot with a shorter, loose arm action in back. Has some good arm speed for size. Showed a 12/6 slow breaking curveball with some good spin. Some change in arm slot at times cause some inaccuracies. Fastball was mostly straight with some plane to the plate that sat in the upper 70's and topped at 80 miles per hour. Young arm that showed good stuff that projects well in the future. Right handed hitter with a slightly open and spread out stance. Utilizes a leg lift trigger and simple hand load with a high back elbow set. Shows good feel for the barrel, able to drive the ball to the pull side and back up the middle. Short swing to the ball with a slightly lifted barrel plane and extension through contact.
