Owen Bateman is a 2022 1B/RHP with a 5-8 175 lb. frame from Hampton Falls, NH who attends Winnacunnet. Medium frame with square shoulders and some present strength throughout frame. Ran a 7.29 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, waits back on the ball, fields it closer to body, short steps moving off the bag and can continue to incorporate additional footwork into actions, shorter arm action on throws and shows ability to drop slot, maintains accuracy on pivot play off the base. Also pitched, works quickly on the mound, chest high leg lift with a full arm action through the back, works to a high three-quarters release point with a medium length stride down the mound. Fastball topped out at 78 mph, throws strikes and pitched to contact, mixed a curveball with 11-5 shape up to 67 mph with sound life away from right-handed hitters. Left-handed hitter, begins with a high hand set and lower back elbow at the plate with a spread and even stance. Keeps hands inside the ball and stays short through the zone with swing path, projects with extension out front at point of contact. Best when working on a linear plane, some line drive contact to the middle and found the barrel.
