Logan Schmitt is a 2020 SS/RHP with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Independence, IA who attends Independence HS. Medium athletic build with some present strength and room for more. Right handed hitter, hits from a bent knee open stance with a big hip coil and hand load to start his swing, has quick hands and creates good bat speed, stays short and compact to the ball on the inside half but tends to reach on the outside half, showed pull power on a line drive game home run to left field. 7.01 runner, has a good first step defensively in the infield, fields the ball out front with soft hands, made accurate throws with a compact arm action, has the athleticism to continue to develop defensively. Also pitched, big cross body with a compact arm action and a tight 3/4's arm slot, threw strikes with a fastball that topped out at 81 mph, used a slow curveball effectively to keep hitters off balance. Very good student.
