Joseph Iglesias is a 2021 RHP/C, SS with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends James Madison HS. Joseph is an accomplished player, with elite athletic ability. He is ready for the next level and should impact there as a two-way player. In addition to his noteworthy talent on the diamond, Joseph is an exemplary student. He ran a 7.56 60 yard dash. A primary RHP, Joseph is accomplished on the hill. His operation is easy, smooth, and highly repeatable. His arm works! He looks to be in his comfort zone on the mound and that, plus his impressive three pitch mix, should allow him to not only pitch at the next level, but excel. He pitches with plus pace and rhythm and obviously has a plan. He pitches off his active 80-83 mph fastball that shows consistent arm side run and heavy sink. His two-seamer is a bat-breaker. He works his FB to both sides of the plate. It is easy to see him chewing up the hands of RHH. His plus average Fb sets up his two secondary pitches. His 67 mph, 12/6 breaking curveball show big spin and late break. His CB, just by the way he presents it, has to be his go-to, swing and miss pitch. His 68 mph change-up is a very mature pitch that he throws with FB action. It looks "heater" coming out of his hand and just dies at the dish. Sound effort by a projectable senior. Joseph also took a turn behind the plate. He was as equally impressive there as he was on the mound. He shows an easy set-up with a low profile at the ready. He shows soft hands and easy, smooth natural movement to receive. He gains ground consistently well and his 76 mph throwing velocity and 1.92 pop time are advanced. This young guy is impressive behind the plate. Joseph also took some balls on the infield. Although this is his third position, and one he'll probably not play a lot of as he moves forward, he did show a sound approach. He is measured and consistent. Hands work and glove plays. His 86 mph arm is big and should allow him to play on the left side of the IF. At the plate, Joseph has an all-fields approach. he truly hits the ball where it is pitched. He has a flatter bat path and shows strength in his hands. He makes consistently loud contact. More of a gap to gap, line driver. He may develop power moving forward, but his current approach works and works well. Joseph is an obvious prospect as a two-way player. He can defend. He can pitch. He can hit. His talent present and he'll make some college a plus guy.
