2023 Fall Midwest Workout Showcase
Patrick Wilbanks is a 2025 1B/RHP, OF with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Urbandale, IA who attends Urbandale High School. A taller frame with some thickness to the lower half. Room to keep adding to the frame. Ran a 7.25 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman who fields it in the middle of his body with a two-handed smother. He had a longer release, with throws at 75 mph and good accuracy across the diamond. He showed some arm strength. Also worked out as an outfielder who fields it off to the side, working into a shuffle, crow-hopping through the throws. Shorter arm action on his release from the outfield, throwing 75 mph from the outfield. A right-handed hitter who had a wider base, with good barrel whip and some strength to impact it well. He worked well back to the middle of the field, showing some strength at impact. He also had some line drives working pull-side during his round of BP swings. He loads deep and works pretty direct to the ball. He could get uphill through it at times with some carry to pull-side contact. Produced an 81 mph exit velocity during PG Tech testing. Took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher for a bullpen. He had a belt-high leg kick with a shorter stride down the mound. He threw from a three-quarters arm slot, with the ball coming out easy through release. He showed the fastball with life and occasional sink when located glove side. He also mixed in a curveball with 12-6 shape to it, showing downer action that worked well in the lower quadrants, dropping below the zone. He also showed a changeup in the mix as well with some depth. Great student.
