Brooks McCarty is a 2026 LHP/OF with a 5-11 155 lb. frame from Orange City, IA who attends Moc-Floyd Valley. He's a taller frame with a higher set waist and length throughout. Room to keep filling out the frame moving forward. Ran a 7.20 60-yard dash. Primary left-handed pitcher with a sidestep into the leg lift up above the belt with good extension down the mound, staying on-line and showing good direction. Had a higher slot on his throws with some looseness to the arm. Slower and deliberate actions as part of the delivery. Long through the back and has some whip as he pulls down through his release. Fastball was up to 83 mph and had arm-side life to it, commanding well. He paired it with an upper-60s curveball that had 1-7 shape to it, with a bigger break at times. He pronated a changeup as well with some dive, getting good depth to the pitch. The fastball missed bats up in the zone, and he held low-80s into his third inning. Competitor on the mound. Threw 3.0 innings, allowing no hits and striking out 4 opposing hitters. He's a right-handed hitter with a wider base, higher-set hands, and a high back elbow. He was able to extend through it well out front. Used a quick leg lift trigger with a good path to it. Worked uphill through it. Made contact out front, and his best results came working to the pull-side portion of the field. Had some impact showing near the later part of his round of BP swings. Produced an 81 mph exit velocity during PG Tech testing. Added 2 hits in-game as well. Worked out as an outfielder, fielding it one-handed off to the side, throwing up out of the hand with throws at 81 mph from the outfield. Had a shorter arm action with a higher three-quarters release. He had a clean round and had actions that should improve with added strength. Good strength. Named to 2023 Midwest Top Prospect TP List.
