Gabriel Lopez is a 2025 1B/RHP with a 5-8 170 lb. frame from Johnston, RI who attends Ponaganset. Recorded a 10.10 second sixty-yard dash time. Compact, durable frame with present lower half strength and plenty of time to physically mature. Primary first baseman with deliberate footwork around the bag, a deeper funnel to field and fairly accurate throwing arm to the bags. Recorded developing arm strength up to 65 mph across the diamond. Secondary right-handed pitcher that works from an abbreviated windup with belt high leg lift and shorter stride out to foot strike. Repeats well from a compact, shorter arm action and keeps a deliberate pace down the slope. Fastball worked in the mid-to-upper 60s for most of his outing and topped out at 68 mph in this look. Displayed developing command with fastball that will continue to improve with more seasoning on the mound. Will continue to improve with refinements mechanically, development of secondary offering and additional velocity. Right-handed hitter that hits from a wide base with a high hand set, high back elbow and big leg lift trigger. Contact oriented stroke with downhill swing path and developing bat-to-ball skills. Showed occasional ability to turn the barrel on the inner-half, will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Excellent Student.
