Jacob Gomez is a 2020 LHP/1B, OF with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Rutherford, NJ who attends Rutherford HS. Recorded a 5.03 second 40-yard dash time. Lean, athletic frame with wiry present strength and room for more. Primary lefthanded pitcher with a good tempo and clean mechanics. Quiet delivery with good tempo and clean mechanics. Loose arm stroke and throws from a three-quarters arm slot with whippy arm speed. Fastball had good late life on the pitch and topped out at 85 mph to both sides of the plate. Primarily worked down in the strike zone with some short sink to the pitch. Commanded both sides of the plate very well. Curveball had tight spin and sharp, late bite. Worked curveball very well off the same tunnel as the fastball. Maintained arm speed on the changeup with fading action. Arm strength played well from secondary position of first base. Righthanded hitter with a wide base, high hand set, and a high back elbow. Direct swing with a compact path. Fluid swing path and has loose hands. Consistent round with a repeatable stroke and some strength off the barrel. Good student. Named to the 2018 NE Indoor Top Prospect List.
