Brian Zix is a 2018 SS/RHP/OF with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Cincinnati, OH who attends Moeller HS. Medium, athletic frame with compact build; body projects moving forward. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.36 seconds. Sets up to hit from even-based stance, stays online with hips through moderate weight shift, shows ability to generate clean, on-plane launch with hands, line drive swing plane with middle-field approach. Showed good ability to work up the middle as well as to the opposite field, good overall contact skills. Worked out in the infield, bouncy athletic actions, good range and footwork to both sides, fields cleanly out front with efficient and smooth hands, arm strength across the diamond clocked up to 77 mph. Stood out on the mound, exclusive stretch, leans back over rubber, compact arm stroke through the back to high three quarters slot, hides ball well to release, fastball worked 77-80 mph to both sides of the plate with excellent sinking and running life. Mixed in curveball with 11/5 shape and very good depth. Life on fastball as well as fastball command stood out. Good student.
