Ryan Folts is a 2020 3B/RHP/2B with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Spartanburg, SC who attends Spartanburg HS. Large frame with longer limbs and wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary third baseman with up tempo, high energy footwork while moving to the baseball. Funnels the baseball and works through exchange with developing fluidity. Maintains momentum towards the bag while releasing from a three-quarters arm slot. Throws produced good carry across the infield topping at 84 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, crouched stance and simple leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Clean hand path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Looks to stay behind contact with solid balance. Consistently worked to the middle of the field flashing quality bat speed when on time. Also pitched utilizing a side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays balanced throughout and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball came out of hand cleanly in the low 80's, topped at 83 miles per hour. Primarily looked to challenge the bottom of the zone and showed developing feel for the edges of the plate. Curveball had 11/5 shape with solid spin in the mid 70's. Also showed a changeup offering in the mid 70's. Very good student.
