Zachary Root is a 2022 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Fort Myers, FL who attends Fort Myers HS. Recorded a 6.83 second 60-yard dash time. Long, slender frame with good athleticism and lots of room to fill out. Primary left-handed pitcher with a high three-quarters arm slot and good extension out in front. High leg lift and leans on that back leg to drive with the lower half and add deception. Good sinking life on the fastball with lots of arm side run and sinking life. Fastball-changeup combination is good with a softer velocity changeup that has a ton of life. Really tough at-bat and willing to use the changeup to hitters of any handedness. Softer 1/7 shaped curveball with good ability to land for strikes. Left-handed hitter with a high hand set, high back elbow, and a wide base. Level bat path with some loft out in front. Has some ability to launch and work both sides of the field. Tremendous student.
