Aidan Vargas is a 2023 RHP/1B, UT with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Teaneck, NJ who attends Teaneck. Large, well-developed frame with present athleticism and overall muscularity. Primary position RHP, working from an even start and small sidestep to well balanced position over the rubber. Uses a rhythmical movement from his belt to his chest with his hands to create timing. Very deep arm path in the back but consistently gets hand up on time to work through a 3/4 arm angle. Core stability and good posture allows him to work down the mound with good direction. Would occasionally snap off his front side resulting in arm side misses but was in the strike zone the vast majority of the time. FB sat 83-86 with late life and a 2-seamer in the 80-83 range. His CH is a real pitch in the upper-60's with true feel and deception. His BB was a low-60's pitch that needs some consistency and velocity. Also, worked out at 1B where he stayed back a bit but showed solid footwork and deliberate actions with the glove. Showed he is more than capable of handling himself around the bag. With the bat, he employed an even balanced stance with a high hand set and a hanging trigger with his lower-half. There is real strength at contact with loft and juice gap to gap. He whips the barrel through and creates consistent loud contact. Excellent student and a potential two-way player at the next level.
