Robert Oropeza is a 2022 3B/RHP, MIF with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Tomball, TX who attends Tomball Memorial HS. A talented player who is only going to get better, Robert is athletically gifted and has a fundamental skill level that will allow him to continue his ascent. A primary third baseman, Robert can make all the routine plays with relative ease. He also has a knack for making the tough plays appear fairly routine. He reads the ball well off the bat and positions quickly. He circles the ball well and his path is always towards first base. His quick trigger allows his impressive 86 mph throws to get across the diamond in a hurry. All his throws are firm and hold their plane. His throwing accuracy is outstanding. As good as he is a third base, Robert showed his versatility on the infield extremely well when he moved to second base. He displays quick feet, a smooth glove, and an ability to make all the plays, including impressively turning the double play. Robert's defense can certainly play up and is unquestionably ready for the next level. At the plate, Robert also shows advanced skill. There is some obvious quickness to his swing operation. He utilizes a mid leg lift to help trigger his swing. He has strength in his hands and a feel for the barrel. His flatter path shows a slight lift at contact. While mostly a line drive type hitter currently, Robert did flash some raw power that can, and should, develop as his career continues.
