Gannon Wentz is a 2022 C/RHP, MIF with a 5-10 145 lb. frame from Worthington, OH who attends Thomas Worthington HS. Gannon is a long and lean, maturing athlete who shows sound fundamental ability at multiple positions. In addition to his noticeable ability on the diamond, Gannon is also a recognized achiever in the classroom. He ran a 7.43 60 yard dash. A primary catcher, Gannon shows a comfortable and consistent set up at the ready. His footwork is clean and routine. His hands are soft and sure. He transitions well and shows solid arm strength with a quick arm stroke. His 78 mph throws are firm and true and hold their plane to the target. Nice round. A lot to like and work with. Gannon also took a turn on the infield and his smooth style played well here, too. He can make all the plays and has a instinctive style that projects. He positions well and plays through the fielding action with confidence. His glove is sure and his hands are soft and he transitions routinely. His 82 mph throwing velocity is plus average and his tosses show firm carry and are consistently accurate. Really solid IF round. Offensively, Gannon shows a sound ability to strike the ball with authority. He starts with an even base and a sure stride to trigger. He stays inside the ball well and utilizes his sound hand strength to help generate bat speed. He is a contact first, line driver who appears to want to stay in the middle of the field with his swing path. Decent feel for the barrel. There is a lot to like in Gannon's overall game. He appears to play with high energy and his effort is commendable. Nice upside for this athlete.
