2023 California Workout Showcase (Sunday)
Justin Kim is a 2027 RHP/1B, 3B, OF with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Porter Ranch, CA. Features a big, strong frame with present strength proportioned throughout Primary right-handed pitcher, begins with a side step into a belt high lift. Fluid arm stroke with three-quarters release point. Fastball shows quality carry for the age, plays true through the zone and topped out at 78 mph. Breaking ball shows sharpness and late depth for the age, landed it well. Changeup is very advanced with late arm side action, throws it with the proper arm action up to 71 mph. Good feel for the three-pitch mix for someone not yet in high school. Commands all quads of the zone. Very projectable. In the outfield he did a good job charging the ball and fielding it cleanly off to the side. His arm had good carry with accuracy. In the infield he has good prep with good foot and glove mechanics. He looked comfortable executing with the backhand. Accurately made all the throws. At the plate he features a medium base with a slight toe tap. He has a gap to gap approach showing good strength and caught some barrels. It was an intent filled round and he was able to generate some loft. He is an excellent student.
