Luke Cathey is a 2028 RHP/1B with a 5-10 192 lb. frame from Conroe, TX who attends The Woodlands Christian Academy. Good size and strength especially for his class with present strength and real projection long-term. Ran the 60 yard dash in 9.34 seconds. Primary position RHP, working exclusively from the stretch and using smaller leg lift to get moving down the slope. A bit of a cross-body stride, creating deception and an especially difficult look for right-handed hitters. Will get more out of his lower-half in time and projects consistent increase in stuff in the short-term. Fastball up to 74 mph delivered through a low-3/4 arm angle with some life, showing no secondary offering. Secondary 1B, working the glove in the mid-line and using deeper transfer to throw. Accurate feeds up to 69 mph across diamond. RHH working from a medium and upright stance with a lower handset and letting them leak a bit before going to impact. Showed some timing issues early in round and pushed the ball to the opposite field. Got on time and on plane later in the round and showed some hard contact in the middle of the field. Will need to shorten hand path to the ball as he moves up the line in competition. Strong young man with a lot of two-way potential to follow.
