Mark Kovach is a 2024 RHP/OF with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Matawan, NJ who attends Matawan Reg. Medium yet well-built frame with compact muscularity and solid athleticism. Primary position RHP, working with an even start from the left side of the rubber. Simple side-step and quick paced leg lift to the chest. Hands move up with leg lift and he works deep in the back with his arm swing, actually reaching below his knees in his path. Gets his front side up really well and creates excellent torque through his glove side. Will get a bit side to side rotationally here and there but for the most part he commanded the zone. FB sat in the 78-82 range with life in the zone and playing well at the top of the zone. True vertical CB in the 64-67 range that displayed continuous depth in the zone with plenty of swing and miss. CH is a firm low-70's pitch with subtle fade and should be a quality third pitch down the line. Secondary position OF, fielding off the front foot using a deep funnel with the glove and comes through the ball well. Solid arm strength up to 83 mph from the OF with accuracy. RHH with a narrow upright stance and high hand set leading him to a simple line drive type stroke. Found consistent barrels, showing loft and nice juice to the LCF gap. Amazing student and good two-way potential to watch for down the line.
