Joe Carinha is a 2008 RHP/2B/SS with a 5'11'', 150 lb. frame from White Plains, NY who attends Iona Prep. He has a very young look to him, with a lean frame and limited present strength. He pitches from a full wind up and pulls off early on his way to the plate. Carinha's stuff was very soft; his fastball topped out at 73 mph and was mostly 69-70. His curveball had a soft, rolling break at 59-62 mph. Carinha kept his pitches low in the strike zone and worked ahead in the count, making hitters swing the bat and get themselves out. Carinha had some good at bats in the game. He has nice hitting fundamentals and put himself in the position to hit some line drives. Strength is a limiting factor for him overall.
