Ryan McCutchan is a 2008 C/OF with a 5'9'', 155 lb. frame from Orangevale CA, who attends Casa Roble. McCutchan has a medium sized frame with a compact athletic body. Defensively, McCutchan has good feet behind the plate which really helps him move to block balls in the dirt and to keep his release nice and quick. He is a good receiver and sets up well. He throws with a longer arm action and makes good online throws. At the plate, McCutchan starts his swing with a leg lift trigger and also uses a no stride approach. He has a low effort swing and is short and quick to the baseball. McCutchan maintains good balance through his swing and showed good pitch selection and patience in his game at-bats. He has a calm approach in the batters box and has present line drive power. McCutchan should hit with more pop as he develops more bat speed.
