2024 Spring Midwest Workout Showcase
Jackson O'Melia is a 2026 3B/RHP/OF with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Bettendorf, IA who attends Pleasant Valley. A taller and slender frame with athleticism throughout the build. Room to keep filling out moving forward. Ran a 7.24 60-yard dash. Primary infielder who worked out at the position and showed off a really whippy arm from the get-go. Clean release that he adjusted slots on, throwing 82 mph across the diamond with a really clean arm action. Compact stroke with quickness to release. His footwork throughout the round showed the athleticism and had bounce to it. He had a clean gather and funnel working into his throws -- a truly smooth round overall. He worked out in the outfield as well, throwing 83 mph and showing off his arm strength here as well. He was athletic working to the ball, with a longer arm action and strength to pull down through it. He moved well with fluid footwork, fielding the ball off the front foot, coming through it well, staying on-line. He threw from a three-quarters arm slot with evident arm speed. A right-handed hitter who uses an even and spread base to set up in the box. He has higher-set hands with the back elbow up. He had quick hands and good intent to his swings. O'Melia uses a simple load and stride, working into it with a quieter lower half, making for a fluid operation top-to-bottom. He's quick through the zone with tons of barrel accuracy to get the bat on it and do damage. He worked back up the middle during the beginning of his round and was able to settle in working gap-to-gap throughout with quality results. He's short and simple, taking the barrel to the ball and doing damage. Quality round of BP swings.
