Clay Eichlin is a 2026 C/OF with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Lakeland, FL who attends Lakeland. Features a medium-sized build with some compact strength. In the OF, used a quick initial first step and did a good job getting around the baseball but had some slow down into reception. Fielded it clean and out-front and showed a reshuffle and glove-tap before working to release. Kept a shorter arm action that displayed avg. strength for his level but got off accurate throws to the bag. Behind the plate, sets up in a slight side-saddle. Tall at reception where his exchange flashed quickness. Gains quality ground towards second base and showed good arm strength with throws on the correct side of the bag with solid carry. At the plate, sits in a wider base and uses a smaller leg lift trigger with minimal movement to the hands. At times got a bit drifty onto his front side. Hands/wrists show strength and work short/quick to the ball as the barrel shows a more direct entry that levels out into contact. More of an all-fields approach where his best contact were low liners he barreled to the pullside.
