Avery McEwen is a 2024 MIF/RHP with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Ann Arbor, MI, who attends Pioneer. A taller frame and slender build. Athleticism present. Ran a 6.98 60-yard dash. A primary shortstop who fields it up the middle with a good glove. Throws were at 80 mph and accurate across the field. Smooth glove working into the throws. Real good slow roller. Had some range to him with athletic movements laterally. A right-handed hitter who started with open feet and made an inward move as he strides through it. Gets the hands back and then drives it. Rotates hard through contact with the ability to work to the middle of the field. Also worked pull-side with some strength off the barrel. Produced an 86 mph exit velocity during PG Tech testing. Hit well during Live ABs, lacing balls to the pull-side. A right-handed pitcher who worked with some quickness on the mound. Threw strikes and had some tempo to his actions. He mixed speeds well and was able to find success in doing so, during Live ABs. Worked from the third base side of the rubber with a side-step into a tucked high-waist leg lift. Had a shorter arm stroke working from a high three-quarters arm slot. Stayed direct and online to the plate. Pretty balanced operations. The fastball was up to 82 mph while spinning up to 2,010 RPMs. Paired it with a 69 mph breaking ball with big break that spun at 1,939 RPMs. Excellent student. Named to 2023 Michigan Indoor Showcase TP List.
