LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2004 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Eric Binder is a 6'6", 215 lb. right handed pitcher with the type of body that scouts and college coaches are looking for. Binder shows good athleticism, has an arm stroke that is fluid and tension free, and has some physical projection left, which is all good news for the future. Binder threw four innings in Cedar Rapids, pitching at 81-83 mph with his fastball and getting some running action. Binder has a high leg kick to start his delivery with a full arm circle in back and some extension out front. His best pitch at the showcase was a 65-66 mph curveball that had a big, sweeping break from a ¾ release point. Binder did a good job throwing strikes with both pitches and settled down after allowing a couple of hits early to retire the final nine batters he faced, five on strikeouts. Eric is an excellent student and should get recruited by several DI programs.
