2004 National Underclass Dec 28-30
Santos is a live bodied 5-8 combination right handed pitcher/outfielder from Miami with good athletic tools. He’s a 7.1 runner who threw 87 mph from the outfield during drills. Santos’ arm strength translated well to the mound. He has a max effort drop and drive delivery but topped out at 86 mph on his fastball and was a strike machine with all his pitches. His curveball had good velocity at 70-71 mph but was a little flat at times. He also threw a 66-68 mph change up. Aside from his speed and arm strength, Santos showed good bat speed as well. He hits from a quick, rotational approach and has good strength in his hands. Santos is an aggressive hitter who showed the ability to make consistent hard contact and the ball jumped a bit off his bat. Santos also listed shortstop among his positions and it would be interesting to see him in the infield, too. He could be an excellent all purpose utility player. Santos’ baseball ability and tools should make him a valuable player at the right level college program.
